RIDE ALONG PROGRAMTake the opportunity to observe the La Crosse Police Department (LCPD) at work first-hand. The "Ride-Along" program will allow you to experience how law enforcement situations are handled and to give you better insight to evaluate police and citizen interaction. Through active citizen participation,
the LCPD's goal of better communications between the community and police
officers can be achieved. Download the LCPD Ride-Along Request Form or ask any member of the department for a copy. A copy may also be obtained by writing to the department at the above address. After filling the form out completely, the participant must bring or mail the notarized form to the Police Department. Once a background check is completed, the prospective ride-along participant will be notified of the availability of shifts when he/she may ride. Please note that it may take
several weeks for the request to be processed and permission received
to ride-along. Please plan accordingly. The usual turn-around time will
be seven (7) days from receipt of the written/notarized request. Dress Code: INFORMED CONSENT/WAIVER
OF LIABILITY: Ride-Along Participants must have in their possession a valid photo identification card issued by a governmental agency and must provide the ID to the police officer with whom they will be riding.
